For God so loved the world that
he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but
may have eternal life.
Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn
the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
God’s Will for Our Lives Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV

Responding to God’s Grace
Professing Our Faith Apostles' Creed, ecumenical
version
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son,
our Lord.
He
was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin
Mary. He
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was
buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He
ascended
into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He
will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy
catholic Church, the communion of
saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.

of God’s People and Lord’s Prayer Traditional
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be
thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts as we forgive
our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen.
* Hymn for Departing 402 “O Jesus, I Have Promised”
* Benediction 2 Corinthians 13:13, NIV
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen!
* Parting Chorus 621 “Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus”
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely
dim
In the light of His glory and grace.
* Indicates all who are able are invited to stand.
Communion at Church of the Saviour takes
place around the table. After the
liturgy the elders will direct people to come forward and take a seat at the
table. We begin by passing the bread. You are invited to take a piece of bread and
pass the loaf while in turn you repeat the phrase, “The body of Christ given
for you.” You may partake of the
bread. The cup follows and begins with
the common cup. If you so desire, you
can drink from the common cup before passing it on with the phrase, “The blood
of Christ shed for you.” For those who
do not wish to drink from the common cup, a tray of individual cups will follow
from which you may take one. When all
at the table have been served, the pastor will give a blessing of peace. At this time, all stand and share the peace
of Christ. The elders will also serve
those who wish to partake of communion and are unable to make it to the front.
We are glad you have chosen
to worship with us this morning.
Please join us for a time of
refreshment and fellowship following worship.

Prayer is a Healer! If you are in need of the power of prayer due to sickness, family crisis or other reasons, you can seek support by notifying Pastor Dave, an Elder, or leaving word at the church office.
The flower
arrangement on the communion table this morning is in memory of Ray Walt,
who passed away last year on September 1st.
A C.O.S. family outing to the Grand Rapids Art Prize is being planned. Art Prize runs from September 22 through October 10. We are hoping for an October 3rd, 2PM trip. If there is enough interest perhaps another big white bus ride will happen! Watch for a sign-up sheet or let Barb Veeneman know if you are interested.
In compliance with
our church policy bookó,
Church Life Council will start using the C.O.S. ‘china’ and silverware as much
as possible for our special dinners and potlucks. We encourage help from everyone to make this happen. There will be a ‘clean-up crew’ sign-up sheet
for each event. We will need people to
clear and clean tables, wash and dry some dishes and utensils, run the
dishwasher, put away dishes, and take dishtowels home to launder. It can be a fun time together and many hands
make the work quick and light. Thank
you in advance for being good stewards of God's created earth. ó“Health
Policies for Kitchen Use, item g. The use of real plates, dishes, and utensils
is encouraged in order to be good stewards of the earth, and the use of throw
away items is discouraged.” This policy was established prior to 1994.
