Words
of Assurance from Acts
10:43, NRSV
All the prophets testify about Christ that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
God’s Will for Our Lives Colossians 3:1-4, NJB
Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, where Christ is, sitting at God’s right hand. Let your thoughts be on things above, not on things that are on the earth, because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God. But when Christ is revealed—and he is your life—you, too, will be revealed with him in glory.
Historical Perspective Heidelberg
Catechism Q & A 120 - 121
Why has Christ commanded us to address God: "Our Father"?
That at the very beginning of our prayer he may awaken in us the
childlike
reverence and trust toward God which should be basic to our prayer,
which is that God has become our Father through Christ and will much less deny
us what we ask in faith than our human fathers and mothers will refuse us
earthly things.
Why the words "in heaven"?
These words teach us not to think of God's heavenly majesty as
something earthly, and to expect everything for body and soul from God's
almighty power.

* Confession
of Faith based on
selections from Belgic Confession, Art. 27
What do you
believe about the church of Christ?
We believe
and confess
one single
catholic or universal church—
a holy
congregation and gathering
of true
Christian believers.
What binds
them all together?
They await
their entire salvation in Jesus Christ,
having been
washed by his blood,
and
sanctified and sealed by the Holy Spirit.
How big is
this church?
This holy
church is not confined,
bound, or
limited to a certain place or certain persons.
But it is
spread and dispersed
throughout
the entire world,
though still
joined and united
in heart and
will,
in one and
the same Spirit,
by the power of faith.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be
thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven.

And forgive us our debts as we forgive
our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

If you loaned an arctic themed item to church for this month’s VBS program be sure to stop by the table in the gym during Fellowship and reclaim it. Items still left after today will be stored in the John Room awaiting an owner. Many sheets were brought in – if you don’t wish to have yours back, let the office know. Coopersville Cares would be thrilled to have them as dust covers for items at their annual benefit sale.
